As any Heritage Craft, baskets were made out of necessity. You will find this very sturdy 9″ x 12 ” high, six-sided wood bottom basket will have many uses, from a storage container to a wastebasket. All Materials Provided.
Betty wove her first basket in the mid 70’s with the Alleghany County Home Extension Service. Shortly afterwards in 1979, she began teaching basket weaving classes through Wilkes Community College. Betty has been a member of the NC Basket Weaving Association since 1986 and enjoys learning new techniques and patterns using a variety of weaving materials, which she dyes herself. Her 37+ years of teaching has allowed Betty to share the craft she loves with various levels of students throughout the northwest region of North Carolina.
