Scratchboard Basics with Lorelle Bacon (FF1006LB)
October 6, 2017
6 pm – 9 pm
This intro class is for all levels, beginners and up and it is one of the mediums to learn! It is wonderful for those who like detailed work. Students will learn what tools to use for a variety of effects while completing a small scratchboard from your choice of furnished references. Ways to frame will also be covered. It is wonderful medium to take when traveling, easy to pick up and put down. Scratchboard takes little space and minimal supplies to purchase. It produces beautifully for cards and prints.
All materials provided.
I have been primarily known as a portrait artist for over 25 years, though I enjoy painting anything that “grabs” me! I have done many commissions. I work in oils, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, pen and ink, scratchboard, mixed media and graphite. I have been teaching drawing and painting to hundreds of students since 1994, many of whom are now doing commissions themselves.
I was the resident artist/instructor at Black Mountain Center for the Arts for eight years. I am currently an instructor at Arrowhead Gallery in Old Fort, Swannanoa Valley Fine Arts League in Black Mountain and Lead Instructor at River’s Edge Studio in the Asheville River Arts District. I also hold many workshops in these areas as well as in Hendersonville and Tennessee, Texas and Florida.
