Book Art with Sharon Sharp
Workshop Supply List
We will create blank journals and various unique envelopes as features within those journals. Through folding, stitching, and gluing, we will make several types of accordion-style journals, plus an envelope-shaped journal incorporating envelopes. Each person will receive patterns for many envelope styles, plus guidance on ways of incorporating them in journals. With an explorative spirit, we’ll also discuss ideas about how to enhance creative journaling through combinations of book form, imagery, and text. We’ll discuss the suitability of various papers for journal pages and for envelopes, experiment with combinations, and create journal covers in several different ways. As participants are creating journals, Sharon will weave in some fascinating lore about the history of envelopes. No experience is necessary, and guidance will be individualized as much as time allows. Each person will leave with several envelope-journals and a wealth of ideas for later explorations.
