I am a certified Mc Gown rug hooking teacher. I love to teach, as it is a way to carry on the rug hooking tradition. I began hooking in 2003 after I inherited rug hooking equipment from my Mother-in-Law. My first rug was a design I drew on linen backing, a gecko. I then drew my pet dog on backing and hooked her. By this time I had a passion for rug hooking and therefore signed up to be a trainee at the Southeastern McGown Workshop in Asheville.
In 2006 I received a Regional Artist Grant Award for rug hooking and again in 2012 I was awarded a grant to help with the expenses of developing my own patterns. My work has been exhibited at the Country Inn Rug Hooking workshop in Ridge, N.H., Caraway Rug Hooking workshop in Asheboro, N.C., Southeastern Teachers workshop in Asheville, N.C. and in galleries in West Jefferson and Boone.
