106RW:Exploring The Palette Knife with Robin Wellner
Level: Experienced Beginner and up
Workshop Fee: $220
Please Read Our General Information and Cancellation Policy Before You Register
Join us for a two-day workshop exploring the use of the palette knife in your paintings. The knife can add a looseness and freedom to your paintings.
Some of the advantages of the palette knife besides mixing paint:
- Easy to clean
- Great for texture and clean color
- The edge creates great lines, trees, etc.
- You can paint over wet layers without the paint mixing like a brush
You can explore a whole painting with only a knife, or use the knife only for accents.
Day one will include an introduction to the knife and the limited palette we’ll use. Together we’ll do color charts and become familiar with the limited palette and our knives. Later we’ll do a small still life – 5×7, 6×8 or 8×10 to start using the knife and the color palette.
Day Two you’ll get to choose to do a landscape from a photo or a more elaborate still life from life. I’ll bring some reference photos, but if you have one that you’d like to paint feel free to bring it
