Wear painting clothes and comfortable shoes for standing!  The paint does not come out of clothes.

Seeking a new direction after an extensive career in broadcasting, Mark Perzel moved to Ashe County in 2016. A short but fun-filled stint as a Circulation Assistant at the Ashe County Library led into a new career in the aerospace industry as a CNC machinist. When not spinning heavy metal into jet engine parts, Mark enjoys expanding his creativity with art and gardening. Very soon after arriving in the High Country he began to take classes at Florence Thomas Art School and fell in love with designing and creating barn quilts. He has created barn quilts for his entire family, was commissioned to design and execute a barn star for the doorway of a century-old farmhouse in Elkin, and has his own personal collection on the outbuildings of the nearly 130-year-old farm where he lives in Jefferson. His designs are inspired by the hex signs and barn stars he witnessed on Amish barns along the Pennsylvania Turnpike and in Ohio.
