816PD:Oil Sticks with Paul DeMarrais
Color Your World with Oil Sticks
All Materials Provided
Registration ends August 14th
Students will focus on the process of painting with the instructor’s personal line of oil sticks. Paul will demonstrate a number of techniques you can use with this versatile and expressive medium. Color theory, composition and basic painting ideas will be discussed. Paul will work individually with students as they paint from his digital images or their own. This medium has the flexibility of pastels and the durability of oil paint. Using oil sticks is both fun and challenging. Every student will have the opportunity to use a new set of sticks created by the instructor. The materials will be available for sale at the end of class.
Paul deMarrais, 70, has had a long and varied career in art. For many years he focused on pastel painting ‘en plein air’, sitting out in the Tennessee landscape he loves. In the past seven years, he’s been perfecting his own line of oil sticks, oil paint in a stick form. The last several years he has been painting with this new medium and showing other artists how to use his oil sticks in their own work. A popular workshop instructor, Paul has taught many workshops around the Southeast and has enjoyed working with art teachers through the Tenn. Art Educator’s Association. He makes his home in Kingsport, Tenn. with his wife Pam and assorted friendly cats and dogs!
