Florence Thomas Art School presents temporary exhibitions featuring artwork of all media.

Three Artists, Three States, Three Styles
May 8 – June 21, 2025
What began as a mutual love for plein air painting has evolved into something far more enduring — a creative bond stretched across time, geography, and media. Addren Doss, Amy Evans, and Julie Hayes, known collectively as Three Who Paint, have spent the last 25 years capturing fleeting light and shifting landscapes, side by side. Each brushstroke not only shaped a canvas but deepened a friendship—a rare alchemy of artistic trust and collaborative momentum.

Their travels have taken them across the country, but their work speaks to a shared center, a gravitational pull toward place and presence. The 45 works in this exhibition are more than landscapes. They are conversations in color, echoes of early mornings en plein air, and the quiet rhythms of three distinct visions harmonizing over time. Some were painted on location, grounded in immediacy. Others evolved in the studio, drawn from memory and artistic instinct — meditations on moments already passed.

Three Who Paint have garnered national recognition and awards not simply for their individual talent, but for the force of their collective journey. This exhibition is a retrospective, but more than that, it is a celebration of artistic kinship.

During the exhibition, Florence Thomas Art School invites you to engage with the artists in an Art Talk on June 10, 2025, at 6:00 pm. Hear their stories, trace their paths, and see through their eyes. And for those eager to learn from the artists themselves, a two-day plein air workshop with Three Who Paint will be held June 12 and 13, 2025 (registration required). Whether oil, pastel, or watercolor, the invitation is the same: to witness, to paint, and to become part of the landscape.
